"E&D and ward A6"

About: New Cross Hospital

shocked to hear that my close relative who arrived by ambulance on a back board after falling from a height was left in corridor still on the board on a trolley for over 5 hours without being triaged or even given any pain relief, a drink or asked if they needed toilet refief!

was then much much later admitted onto A6 with confirmed fracture to vertebrae.

The nursing care on this ward is shocking not sure what the planned staffing levels were supposed to be but all the nurses say they are busy! Given cold toast for breakfast apparently because this side rooms are at the far end of the ward so the toast gets cold on the way around! Pain relief is not offered on regular basis as only offered after breakfast.

Left on bedpan which had been put under incorrectly and overspilt nobody answering buzzers for over 10 minutes had to ring a relative to ring the ward to get bedpan taken away - shocking to leave someone wet and in pain!

Where is the basic care that nursing are paid to provide, where is the dignity and respect and where is the empathy?
