"Pregnancy and our first visit to the maternity suite at St Mary's"

We are first time parents with little to no knowledge about the maternity suite at St Mary's.

Originally we made enquiries to see if you did tours and after some research we found out that due to the risk of infection and data protection this was not an option. We fully accept this as a reason why tours are not offered.

Whilst at hypnobirthing classes we were directed to a YouTube link which is sold as a virtual tour.

We took the time to watch the clip and we both agreed this was the most uninspiring piece of footage we have seen. We hoped for a positive representation of the unit with uplifting music. We thought this was dull and unimaginative.

Curiously we watched footage from the Chelsea and Westminster maternity suite. The quality was so much better and it included actual video footage and useful narration.

It should be noted that we visited the maternity suite the other day due to pregnancy concerns. We met the midwifes in the unit and they instantly put us at ease and tendered to our concerns.

We feel the midwife staff in the unit and resources you have are under represented and the YouTube clip doesn't give a true reflection.

My suggestion would be to revamp your YouTube clip. Use actual video footage providing a walk through tour with narration. Your staff in the unit are warming they reassured us
