What I liked
My mum was admitted Nov 26 to A + E then onto a ward for a day(where in this time she had lost her new M&S dressing gown and slippers) before spending 2 weeks in intensive care, where the care was fabulous and she and all of us (family) were treated with with respect and kept up to date daily.Nothing was too much trouble and nurses were constantly monitering my mum and giving her round the clock care. This is where it ended as she was moved to Dunlop Ward. The staff seemed to be walking around doing nothing and if you asked for anything you had to wait, you were never welcomed on arrival or departure. One day my mum was upset when my sister and I went to see her as she had been left with her meal beside her and no-one had bothered to cut it up or help her.when questioned we were told they were busy and under staffed.Another occasion she was left to feel undignified and worthless after having an accident which she had no control over.My mum was in a side room on her own with no heating working and window blinds which blew in the draught. This started to work the day she moved. My mum by no means wants to be in this position and would not want to be a burdon on any one.She has now moved to Paignton hospital and has told us more about her stay in Dunlop Ward, she was afraid to before in case it made things difficult for her.
So apart from a chosen few the staff on Dunlop Ward dont get any thanks from us on helping our mum on the road to recovery!
What could be improved
More staff.
Lessons on bedside manners.
A bit of patient care and friendliness.
