My three month old daughter suddenly developed a very high temperature and was having difficulty breathing, after having had what I thought was a cold for a few days. When I arrived at Tiger ward (via the on call doctor) with my baby, I was totally panic stricken and had no idea what to expect.
I was immediately ushered to a room, my daughter was given prompt attention, and this was exactly the high standard of care that we received throughout our stay - at all times the nurses and doctors were incredibly helpful, calm and reassuring. My daughter had bronchiolitis and while I learnt that this was a common viral illness in the winter, it meant that she needed help with feeding and to have a (very small) amount of oxygen, and so my daughter (and therefore me too!) had to stay on the ward for five nights.
Every concern or query I had, the nurses would always answer in a helpful and constructive way, even though the ward was really busy and I knew that they had many demands on their time. I cannot say thank you enough for their professionalism and kindness - in particular that of Dr Day, and nurses Mary and Amber. They must see lots of parents like me every day but I will never forget how a very nerve-wracking experience was made bearable by their calm explanations and reassurance.
From, a very grateful parent!
