"Procedure not funded anymore..."

About: NHS South Norfolk CCG Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital / Trauma and Orthopaedics

(as the patient),

Some years ago I had an injury at work. This has resulted in severe back and hip pain, with sciatica in right leg. I had persevered with chiropractors, physios, many different types of medication and hundreds of doctors visits, until the pain management clinic offered me facet joint injections. This was fantastic and help relieve a lot of the pain for 4 months. What a break through. I had a follow up appointment this week to be told that as they had worked, I qualified for the next treatment which is facet rhizotomy. Unfortunately though, as I lived in South Norfolk all funding for this operation and other procedures had been withdrawn. This was devastating. I have to wait until April to see if funding will be reinstated and then be put on a waiting list.
