"Poor attitude to patients at Royal Bolton"

During my stay at the Royal Bolton hospital A&E staff displayed poor attitude to waiting patients, they shouted at people to get off a counter, one was a child and another heavily pregnant women these are ill people. Where was the nurse’s compassion?

Second instance that sticks in my mind on the ward CDU (Clinical Decision Unit) I watched as a lady was told by nursing staff “straighten up love” she was walking bend double at the knees, at no point did I see them help her. It gets worse, nor did I see them check that she got back to her bed. When she came into my bay she couldn’t get into bed and fell onto the floor (3.30am) no one came. She was not moving but eyes were open. I knew she was not well, but was unable to get out of bed wired up (suspected MI) so buzzed nurses. She arrested and the crash team came, it gets worse still no patient relatives details. They did get some cardiac output but required respiratory support so she went to ITU (Intensive Treatment Unit).

Then I was given three different diagnoses (MI, Angina, pericarditis) in one weekend not good for confidence in their opinion, would have been better to say they were still investigating.

Finally, bad last point. I was told that I had high cholesterol (which turned out to be a mistake) and asked for dietary advice but the nurses didn’t know, great!

However the sister on the day shift was excellent, and Karen Lipscomb the cardiologist was lovely and thorough.
