About: Glasgow Royal Infirmary / Trauma & orthopaedics (wards 26, 27, 61 & 62 )

(as the patient),

A crushed leg had to have the bones reset. I always felt involved in the treatment and the fact that the consultant changed his mind about the operation once or twice after discussing it with colleagues was heartening [it was a complex injury],

The care in the ward was brilliant. The staff were attentive, thoughtful and very professional. Both wards were very well run.

I work in a small team in NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde which seeks to involve patients and carers in the work of the NHS. The biggest part of my role is in managing feedback projects across the Board area, one of which is Patient Opinion. It is my job to give our patients and carers the opportunity to give us feedback, and to make sure that this is passed to the right people to help us improve the services we provide.

Dear beckham,

Thank you so much for getting in touch - I hope that after your operation you are well on the road to recovery, I know it must have been an extremely tough time after such a complex injury.

It is great to hear that you received such a high level of care from all of the staff who looked after you on the ward - if you could let me know which wards you stayed in I can make sure that those teams specifically get to see your kind comments.

You have also highlighted something which I think is so important in the drive for person centred care, and that is making sure that patients are involved in all of the decisions regarding their care and that they fully understand what is happening to them at all stages. You have shown here what a difference that can make to the experience of the patient, as at all times you were included and clear about the way forward.
