I was referred by my GP to the Surgical Team at Heartlands - with a suspected incarcerated umbilical hernia. The hospital was really busy but I was accessed on ward 11 by a wonderful caring nurse. Within a reasonable time.
I had bloods taken -medical history - blood pressure x-ray and was then seen by a Surgeon Mr Super he explained I would have to have an operation. This would have to be done straight away due to infection. As a woman in her late 60's (and normally fairly healthy) this came as a shock. But Mr Super and his team did everything to reassure me everything would be fine. I felt I was in good hands.
I went to theatre at 2am (busy night) and then returned to ward 12. I could not have been better cared for by all the staff on ward 12. I was seen again by Mr Super who informed me all went well and I could go home at lunch time.
Absolutely fantastic in less than 24 hours into hospital operated on and home again.
Good old NHS and its brilliant staff. THANK YOU ALL. I will never forget you all.
