"My recent visit to Broomfield Hospital for a Cystometrogram"

About: Broomfield Hospital / Urology

(as the patient),

A Cystometrogram test is a internal test of the bladder and it's function.

I was given a leaflet a week prior to my Cystometrogram test which states the following listed below which I didn't receive or was asked for at any time on the day of my procedure. Yes I could have asked why, but I was so nervous about having the procedure done, which is not pleasant at all, I just wanted it over and done with asap. But it still doesn't mask the fact that I could have potentially been carrying various infections that could have affected both staff and other patients.

1. Was supposed to provide a urine sample prior to the test. Was not asked for one.

2. Was supposed to be given a antibiotic tablet prior to the test. Was not given one.

3. Was supposed to be swabbed for MRSA prior to the test. Was not carried out.

4. Was supposed to sign a consent form prior to the test. Was not asked to.

I am so sorry at the confusion and anxiety caused. From my conversation with the Urology Matron you should not have been issued this leaflet, it is has been superseded with a newer version. Can you please email me directly the clinic you attended so we can trace and remove these leaflets immediately, I can also answer any questions you have regarding your care. Best wishes Jonathan.
