"Questions about end of life situations"

About: NHS West Hampshire CCG

(as a relative),

My auntie (she is 83) had a bad fall where she fractured her skull and eye socket. She had 2 bleeds on the brain which have slowed down a lot now. She is a little weak as she is badly bruised and has been in bed for 3 weeks and she is quite confused.

The doctor suggested to her next of kin that they withhold medicine (presumably food and water too as they are administered through a feeding tube and a drip but she is also drinking and eating too) as they don't see her getting better to end her life. She is awake, alert and talking to us when we visit.

I was just wondering whether this is allowed and what laws there are regarding this situation, or whether someone has been through a similar thing?
