"My Most Recent Visit - quite disappointing."

(as the patient),

I was lucky to pre-arrange an appointment for out of school hours, which was great.

I was 20 minutes early and was seen 30 minutes late, for starters. I understand these appointments can run over so easily, but I think that if you know your appt is going to be more then 10 minutes, book a double slot.

I don't have a preference for doctors in Logan, I've met them all and know that they are aptly qualified as doctors.

I felt like my doctor didn't actually listen to my concerns, in my case they cannot just run off a prescription, but my doctor didn't tell me any ways to improve my symptoms through my lifestyle or homeopathically etc.

I arrived with 2 issues and left with a referral for one and shrug of the shoulders for the second - when both the issues have enough of an impact on my daily life for me to see the doctor in the first place.

I felt more could have been done by that doctor, even to advise things I may have already known...

Dear Imaginativeperception,

I really appreciate you taking the time to feedback on Patient Opinion. Feedback from our patients is very important to us. I discuss all patient feedback with my team and with the GPs on a weekly basis. We are a training practice therefore feedback also helps with our teaching and training.

I am glad you got an appointment for a time that suited you. Thank you for making the effort to ensure you arrived on time.

I am sorry you experienced a delay in being seen. Medical emergencies or unexpected issues such as child protection concerns can mean doctors don't run on time. As I am sure you can appreciate these are difficult to predict and we do not have any control when this does happen.

You come to your GP seeking help therefore it is very important you feel you are being listened to and I am sorry you feel this didn't happen during your last visit.

If you want to discuss further then please contact me so I can look into matters on your behalf. I am on annual leave this week but will be back on Monday.

You can telephone me on 01698 373341 or pop in to surgery next time you are passing. Alternatively you can leave a message with reception and I will call you.

Best Wishes

Sharon
