Our physically fit 17 year old son walked into Leighton Hospital, Crewe. 10 months later he came out in a wheelchair, never to walk again.
6 months after he came out, the Leighton Hospital Chief Executive and Board of Directors are still refusing to tell us what illness caused his disability. The only diagnosis we were given was by the Director of Nursing, which was completely wrong and was retracted by the Chief Executive.
During our son's stay in hospital we had to intervene in his "care"(?) to save his life on at least two occasions.
The complaints handling is a joke. They do not give a straight answer to any question. We have seen the lot - simply not bothering to answer, answering a different question, talking about what happened on a different day, and in some cases even having the cheek to tell you what should have happened - while ignoring the fact it did'n't happen like that.
There are some very good people at this hospital, and they want it to be a better hospital, but they appear to be stifled by a management team that say all the right things in their publicity but dont appear to want to actualy improve anything.
We have had a number of letters to an thro with the Chief Executive and the Non Executive board members. They have never yet asked how our son is getting on. We can only assume they simply dont care!
"Why will our son never walk again?"
