"Supplies & Incontinence Products"

About: Lerwick Health Centre Montfield Hospital / Continence advisory service

(as a carer),

These products can only be ordered every fortnight and only picked up on one day a week in Lerwick). This is an appalling service to obtain products for people who will generally be ill, disabled, or elderly, who may need to have these products picked up by family/carers. Most other NHS areas allow these to be ordered/sent directly, this would allow a much efficient and better service for the patients and their carers and free up some staff time at the supplies dept, which I believe would help. This service has to change, it is ridiculous.

We are sorry you feel this way about the current service. We had previously considered a home delivery service but this was not financially possible at that time. However, the continence product contract is now up for renewal on a national basis and all companies interested in tendering for this contract have been asked to do so based on a home delivery model. Once the contract has been awarded we will be very keen to try and establish a home delivery service locally, as long as this is viable within existing budgets.

Regards,

Karl Williamson, Head of Finance & Procurement
