I recently had a mastoid operation which should have been a simple 2 weeks recovery period, however it's now turned into a nightmare that lead to a surgical wound infection which is still healing as I type this review.
I cannot knock my consultant as they have done a very good job; I was just unlucky that i developed a surgical wound infection. My review is how the hot clinic could have stopped my wound infection turning into something serious that eventually lead me to being hospitalised on IVs.
My wound infection could have been treated much earlier if I seen the same doctor, however each of the 4 weeks I went to the hot clinic I seen someone different that provided different information on my wound infection, the 3rd week was a utter joke, the doctor said they couldn't dress my wound because the hospital was saving on supplies and I needed to go to my GP for these? So I walked away with no dressings... I couldn't believe it, but not being a doctor i said fair enough... However come the 4th week the infection got so bad I was admitted to hospital.
All I can say is be careful with the ENT emergency hot clinic, you'll see different doctors if you keep getting submitted back, it felt like they were still being trained. I only had one good doctor within the hot clinic, very caring & the only doctor that wanted to dress my wound.
