The patient was finally admitted 29 Oct for a urology procedure for after two pre-ops. The patient was undressed had been seen by the nurse, doctor and anaesthetist undressed and ready to go. After 3 hours was told that the risk of operation was too high without a high dependency bed being available post operation. As none had been pre-booked the op would have to be rescheduled.
The patient was originally pre-oped in April but as a result of the examination, using a camera via the urethra which was excruciatingly painful, an infection set in from which the patient nearly died.
Surely the records and examination should have resulted in the HD bed being arranged? This whole affair has been very stressful for the patient. He has been told to chase a new appointment.
