I feel it is important for me to write this.
I am currently receiving support from the City Crisis team. Whilst relationships with the team were very turbulent at the start of my support, with the support of my therapist at the time, a meeting was arranged with their Manager. I was able to express my thoughts and wishes in this meeting, and I felt listened to.
My support from the team is exceptional. Sometimes support isn't how I want it, but I can manage this better, and it doesn't matter so much - you can't get on with everyone all of the time! Overall I feel I am well supported and listened to. I don't feel fobbed off, and the team has worked with me around not advising me on distractions straight away. The support is person centred and tailored around me.
I don't get as much support as others - I don't get telephone calls or very regular visits. I am sad that I don't. Currently my support is about me calling the team as and when I need them out of hours.
I feel the team get such a raw deal. They work long hours, and have lots of people that require support. They have many elements to their role. They even often stay over their working hours. I want to acknowledge this, and how great they support me.
