Having had an appointment at the lung function unit I arrive to find it is halfway up a hill.
And although staff parking had umpteen empty parking spaces, which were out of bounds. to visitors. The few visitors spaces were full. The one disabled parking space had been blocked off with a builders fence. So It meant parking in the car park at the bottom of the hill and walking up. I am coming up to 85 years of age, and have asbestosis scars on my lungs. as well as chronic high blood pressure and hip problems. So by the time I finally reach the Unit I was in a state of collapse.
Apart from one patient having treatment, the Unit was empty. But any wonder?.
The Unit is inaccessible to people with respiratory problems. It does not take the brain of a rocket scientist to appreciate the Unit should be in the Out Patients, and so make it accessible to people with breathing problems.. And I am certainly not over reacting when I say:
It would take the brain of a rocking horse to ignore it, and let this situation continue.
Because the position at which this Unit is locate is disgraceful and sheer lunacy! And needs investigating as a matter of urgency!
"Inaccessibility of Lung Function Unit."
