"The time we had to wait was unacceptable"

About: South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust / Emergency ambulance

(as a volunteer/advocate),

I coach an U14 rugby team and one of the players went down with a neck injury. We did all the usual checks and felt an ambulance was necessary. The first responder Paramedic was there quickly and dealt with the situation brilliantly. She requested back up as a spinal board was needed.

There were only a small number of ambulances available and had to wait a lot longer than a child in pain should.

The ambulance crew when they arrived were again fantastic and cannot praise either crew enough however the time we had to wait due to them being over stretched wasn't acceptable.
