"What a sad way to treat an old man"

About: Newark Hospital / Ophthalmology

(as a relative),

My 94 year old father has a problem with an ulcerated eye. He had an appointment for the 22 Sept for which he received a letter. Subsequently he received another letter telling him that he had an appointment for the 29th September, so he did not attend the first one.

When his carer took him to the second appointment he was told that he didn't have an appointment, despite being shown the appointment letter. He was told he could wait until the end of the appointments which of course neither he or the carer could do.

He was subsequently offered an appointment for late December, which considering the suffering he was experiencing was appalling. When I complained on his behalf he was eventually offered an appointment in late October.

What a sad way to treat an old man.
