"If communication was better less time would be..."

About: Broomfield Hospital

Arrived in A&E at 11:30am after being referred by my GP who I waited 2.5hrs to see for 5 mins. Have currently been waiting for 7hrs in A&E. After 1hr wait I saw a nurse for 5mins who was friendly and took a blood test. After 6hrs I finally saw who I believe to be a Gynaecologist although they didn't really introduce themself. They checked me over, didn't really explain much and answered my questions vaguely. They said they needed to speak to a senior consultant before they could make a recommendation. I got the impression I was in for another 4hr wait. Since I hadn't eaten anything I went to grab a sandwich. So 30mins later they saw me and said if I hadn't eaten they could have done the op now but since I had, now I had to stay in overnight taking up bed and having to wait around for possibly another 16hrs. If that had been communicated to me I certainly would never have let that sandwich pass my lips. So now I'm back in the waiting room having not a clue what is going on, waiting again. Really would love to speak with the senior consultant because it would be nice to talk to someone that sounds like they have a clue.
