My GP noticed that my white cell blood count was raised following a routine blood test and after discussion with the Liver Team at King's it was thought prudent for me to be reviewed at my local hospital (ESH) as I only had my second liver transplant 5 months ago and as a raised white cell blood count can be a sign of infection it was felt that the bloods needed to be repeated asap.
On arrival at ESH A/E I was triaged really quickly and bloods were taken. Although I had to wait 3+hours for the the results (this was perfectly understandable) I was kept comfortable and the Staff Nurse (Vanessa) who looked after me was great, kept me fully updated all the time.
Fortunately the bloods showed that the white cell count had come down so although it was suggested that I be admitted to AMU for the medical Drs to review me the following morning I did decline this as I was due to see my Liver Consultant at King's the following Tuesday.
However I would like to say that the care I received at ESH in A/E was excellent and although they were not fully aware of my medical history I was listened to and the staff understood fully my reasons for not agreeing to be admitted to AMU.
I would like to express my thanks to all staff involved in my recent care.
"Excellent care"
