"Discharged too early and without support from Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre"

About: Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre

(as the patient),

I am writing this on behalf of a recent patient.

She was discharged from Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre late Friday afternoon, 1st June.

As the 'House Manager' of the Retirement Development where she lives(54) apartments, I have to say that I am disgusted that the hospital could discharge an old lady of 92 to an empty apartment, with no milk or any other provisions for the weekend. As House Manager, my role is not of Warden, but merely to oversee the building and smooth running of Marlborough Court on a 9-5 five days a week basis. I happened to see the ambulance arrive at 6.30, and was horrified to see Miss Mason emerge.

I went along and opened her door, and helped the ambulance staff, then had to go around searching for bread and milk etc. for her. She lives alone on the second floor.

She then had to spend the rest of the weekend alone. Marlborough court is not a nursing or care home.

I would appreciate it if this letter is shown to the people responsible for Discharging patients and inform them for the future of the nature of the place.

Mrs. V.W.(House Manager)

Marlborough Court
