I was admitted to the hospital (Ward 6A) under what was meant to be a 3 day stay however I have been here for 9 weeks.
My Consultant has been extremely supportive & made recommendations to aid recovery, however I am finding these recommendations are being ignored when it is cascaded down to the ward staff who are not listening. I believe this has added to my prolonged recovery.
It if wasn’t for the fact I need specific health treatments, I would have preferred to discharge myself. Some of the ward staff are lovely & friendly however senior staff are difficult (I was told to “get over it” when I was upset about the prospect of losing my hair). I also feel I am being fobbed off.
I am meant to be undergoing observations every 4hrs which is not happening & I am missing out on necessary medications if the medication rounds happen when I am alseep. I have also had restricted access to visitors when other patients have had visitors in at the same time which I feel is unfair (some of my visitors were turned away the last time they came).
I have reported the issue to the Hospital PALs team & awaiting a response"
