"First class care"

About: Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital

After a visit to my GP this week I was admitted to new hospital in Triage then ward 15. I cannot praise the staffs efficiency and caring enough. They conducted a full testing process including a CT scan (as a claustrophobic, the CT staffs patience and caring was commendable) within a few hours. I was checked on a regular basis by ward staff and kept fully informed of happenings and once the tests were complete was even offered tea and toast. At the time of discharge nursing staff talked me through clearly and precisely the medications, issued a card for direct contact for up to five days in case of need. Change of hospital location will feel difficult for some of the public but, after the experience of living and working in different areas of the UK, using both NHS and private sector for quite serious family health needs and retiring back in the north east I feel our public have been given 21st century facilities at Cramlington hospital alongside highly trained caring staff.

Dear Valerie, Thank you ! This is such a lovely tribute to The Northumbria and why we felt it was such an important development for our local population. Your experience of care at the new hospital is exactly what we're aiming for all our patients every day across all of our hospitals. I'm especially pleased that the efficiency of care was matched by the kindness and compassion of our staff. We know how important it is to concentrate on both aspects. Your thoughtful feedback will act as such a welcome boost for our teams who have been working exceptionally hard to make these important changes happen smoothly. I am glad that on transfer home you felt well informed to manage your own condition and I do hope feeling considerably better. With best wishes and thanks again, Annie
