UHB replies:

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback on your experience at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital

We welcome all feedback and would like to assure you that your comments will be taken seriously and acted upon as part of our ongoing commitment to improving patient experience.

With regard to your comments about the toilets and bathroom we would like to reassure you that ward toilets and bathrooms are fully cleaned at least daily. If cleaning is required in between this can be arranged if it is brought to the attention of the domestic staff. In addition to this the nursing staff make regular checks to ensure the toilets and bathrooms are clean for patients to use. We apologise if this was not your experience during your stay.

As a result of previous patient feedback and in line with national standards, the provision of toilet and washing facilities is much greater in the new Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham which starts treating patients in June next year. 44% of patients will be cared for in single rooms with ensuite toilet/shower facilities. The rest of the patients on each ward will be in 4 bedded bays – again with ensuite toilet/shower facilities. Each ward will also have a bathroom with a bath suitable for use by patients with a variety of needs and with different levels of mobility.

If you would like further information or would like to discuss any of the points raised in more detail please contact the Patient Advice and Liaison Service who will be pleased to assist you. You can contact them by phone 0121 627 8820, by email PALS@uhb.nhs.uk , via the hospital website http://www.uhb.nhs.uk/Patients/Pals/Contact.aspx or in person by dropping in between 10am-4pm (Mon-Fri) to the PALS office located near the main entrance.
