What I liked
I have recently been an in-patient at Bedford Hospital and it has been a very good experience.
Please accept my sincere thanks for the treatment I have received.
The education team (nurse practitioner, occupational therapist and physiotherapist) who presented the valuable information enabling me to make preparations for my operation. The session allowed plenty of time for questions as promised – very reassuring. Furthermore the team were assessing their presentation and changing it to improve it – very commendable. Members of this team eventually became involved in my post op care.
The team who undertook the pre-op assessments. All very proficient yet giving enough time to go through personal concerns.
Howard ward with its mixture of experienced nurses and some very promising student nurses. How do they manage to remove drips, drains and dressings without hurting you? The impressive team work of decanting you from bed to trolley.
The x-ray department and phlebotomists with whom I had brief but purposeful encounters all conducted with courtesy.
All the pre-op experiences had relaxed me and persuaded me I was going to be in good hands, but for various reasons I was anxious.
The anaesthetic team and surgical team, the recovery room nurse and finally the staple remover have my whole-hearted congratulations. Never before have I come round from an operation feeling so well – no sickness, no disorientation, no excessively dry mouth and throat and no pain.
Thanks to you all for proving to me that my anxiety was unwarranted.
