"I was nervous but staff made me feel at ease"

About: Heartlands Hospital / General surgery

(as the patient),

I've had tummy problems for a while and the doctor needed to examine my full colon; a colonoscopy. I was nervous as this was my first experience of 'surgery'.

The nursing staff and doctor both before, during and after were very reassuring and caring. Although I took my nerves in with me, after recovering I feel totally at ease with what happened and how staff were able to do their medical jobs whilst reassuring the patient.

Dear AtcBrian

Thank you for your feedback regarding your recent experience at our Endoscopy Department at Heartlands Hospital.

I hope you are now recovered from the examination and please be assured I will pass along your comments to Rose Riley Ward Manager for Endoscopy Unit, to Beverley Baker the Matron and to Dr Marcus Mottershead who is the Clinical Lead for Gastroenterology at the Trust. They will be thrilled that their staff were able to support you and made you feel at ease during your visit.

I hope this is acceptable and thank you once again for taking the time to provide your comments your feedback is valued.

Kind regards

Marie Helebert
