My mother spent a week here last week in the Rayne ward and the standard of care was poor. When we visited in the afternoon in the heatwave, her breakfast and lunch plates hadn't been cleared. To have dirty plates lying around in a room when it's this hot and you feel sick and the thought of food makes you feel ill, is terrible. There was no aircon in the room and it was very hot, probably over 90 degrees. She'd been offered a cup of tea mid morning as the tea round seemed to have missed her and even though she'd chased it up, it still hadn't arrived. I don't think this is acceptable. She was also meant to be wearing the DVT socks, but again the nurses were meant to be coming round several times to do this for her, but nobody seemed to care or have any time. Whenever the doctors came round to see her nothing was explained properly. When I called up to find out details I was told they can't tell me anything over the phone. Simple ID checks don't even seem to be possible so that they could verify who I am or ask her to see if she would mind if they talked to me. I am certainly not impressed at all with the level of care she received.
"Not great"
