"Surgery Cancelled Twice Already"

About: Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital

I had high hopes for this new hospital, however l've already had planned high risk surgery there cancelled twice due to staff shortages. How are there staff shortages when they've known for many years this hospital was being built & needed a full complement of staff to look after patients to justify the multi-million £ expenditure & put the hospital to its full use? I'm suffering in a great deal of pain waiting for my new surgery date but have psyched myself up twice to face this surgery before then it was cancelled & hope l don't have to face this devastating emotional rollercoaster of cancellation a third time due to continued staff shortages. Sort this out asap as patients are suffering!! I haven't even been to the hospital yet & l don't have a good impression at all. Will report back when l finally get my operation!

Dear Sir / Madam, I am extremely sorry - two cancellations feels completly unacceptable and I can appreciate just how frustrating this is for you. I am also sorry that you are experiencing pain as you wait. I am concious that your post is anonymous and so I am prevented from looking into this in greater detail so that we can understand the circumstances building up to your cancellation . I will copy this email to the clinical leaders and managers within the surgery business unit. If you have any more info that you would like to share please do email me ( annie.laverty@nhct.nhs.uk ) With thanks again for letting us know, Annie
