Dear Sirs, This not against the Cannock Chase Hospital, it is against MICATS. On 1 Apr 2015, I saw MICATS at Greyfriars in Stafford, who sent me to the Royal Stoke University Hospital (UHNS) to ultrasound for "US Achilles tendon Lt". I attended on 8 May 2015 and was advised by the UHNS that I had a partially torn achilles. Then, today 23 Jun 2015, I attended MICATS at the Cannock Chase Hospital. This is out of my way and I had to reschedule meetings in the morning and also take a half day off. Anyway, on arrival, I was advised that MICATS could not 'see' my ultrasound scan and after they called the UHNS, MICATS told me that I had in fact cancelled my 8 May appointment, which is not correct. Even if the scan had been with MICATS, all they would have done is referred me to a consultant. So I wasted my whole morning. Why could this all not have taken place over the phone at a savings to myself and the NHS? Why does one service not check that they have what they need for an appointment and why cannot one service access a patient's records from another service. Also, why do I have 2 patient reference numbers. Is it one NHS or just a jumble of local practices, which operate independently? It is my tax monies that fund this debacle and it is totally unprofessional. Time just merrily flits by and no one is in charge; what a mess.
