Thank you for contributing to the Care Opinion website.

This is a new venture for our organisation and it is hoped it will be of benefit to service users by working through any issues, and to continuously improve staff practice for the benefit of all users, their families and carers.

In response to your comments about individuals treating a person appropriately, the organisation has an induction, training and supervision process which includes working with staff to have an awareness of people's disabilities. It is also about sharing skills and experiences, for example supporting those staff who may be lacking in some knowledge and practice when communicating with individuals.

If you would like to meet with me or another colleague to discuss further I would be more than happy to do this.

In the meantime I will be liaising with my senior colleagues to ensure that all staff including relief support workers are reminded of their social care values, and recording any discussions, monitoring for improvements in practice.

I will also be liaising with the Training Dept requesting they continue to offer examples of poor versus good communication at training sessions.
