"Old lady bleeding"

About: Hemel Hempstead Hospital

I took a work colleague to this unit this afternoon as he was worried he had broken his ankle. He was fine. However about 10 minutes after we arrived and old lady in a wheelchair arrived with either a family member or friend. The old lady looked in her late 70s or early 80s. She seemed to have a gash on her forehead and bleeding. A gauze was wrapped around her head. A few minutes about 15 minutes later or so she was wheeled in to see a nurse. A few minutes later she was back in the waiting room, with a gauze around her head. The bleeding did not stop. Her helper kept asking and getting tissue to sponge this bleeding wound. Later she was given a larger gauze to hold against her head. The wound she had bled continuously whilst we were there. An hour later we left this unit and this old lady was still sitting in the waiting room holding a gauze against her head whilst it continued to bleed. I don't go to the hospital that often, and I found this shocking. Why is it called the Urgent Centre? Shocking.
