Just about everything could have been better during my stay at Barnsley General. I was treated for a kidney stone at Barnsley, on ward 31. The morning after admission the food I was given was terrible, as was the cleanliness that I saw.
There was a total lack of information for me on the ward (didn't know where to wash, what was happening or who the named nurses and doctors were). The wrong food was sent, or it was very cold or even not available!
Some of the nursing staff were grumpy acting on the ward, I heard some staff swearing and others not helpful.
The shower room I used was filthy, the shower head fell off and there was nowhere to put yours clothes.
I was told to give urine samples every time I went to toilet, but then given wrong name and no sample bottles.
There was no television or internet access.
I was told there would be an appointment for me in 2 weeks. 6 weeks later I had to ring about it and was given an appointment. They forgot about me on the day, should have had an x-ray, I then explained to the appropriate department, who said they would get back to me. But they didn't. Overall I am pretty disgusted with the way I was treated.
I will try avoid Barnsley Hospital at all costs.
