Tuesday 9th March was the first time in a very long time I have actually set foot in a hospital as a patient. I was sent by my optometrist for emergency eye care. The speed of my treatment was commendable and the waiting time was well within expectations. Whilst the staff there were extremely helpful and treated me with great respect, the disappointing aspect of my visit was seeing hospital staff seated behind class partitions, and the need to communicate with them via an intercom. What the hell is wrong with society that our health care professionals need to take such draconian measures for their protection. Watching staff pass by behind these safety screens reminded me of fish in an aquarium. It was the saddest thing I have seen in a long time.
"First time in a long time."
