I got sent to Barrow to give birth as the maternity unit in my local hospital was at full capacity. Upon arrival I was sent off to a room to labour and within just a few hours was sent to deliver.
I ended up with an assisted delivery due to the baby getting distressed, but I didn't mind. The doctors and midwives were all lovely and talked me through it.
After a few hours, I suffered a major post partum haemorrhage, unfortunately. I was still in the delivery suite and the midwives raised the alarm for the doctor that delivered my daughter to come back. He explained the procedure he had to perform and was extremely good with me as it was very painful.
At one point they needed a team of people to rush in and hook me up to some drips because my blood pressure dropped and I passed out. Although it was terrifying for me and my husband at the time, they did a fantastic job.
The team let my husband stay with me overnight - which they didn't have to do - and they gave us a private room. I was looked after very well and I am very grateful to all the staff who ensured the safety of me and my baby - they even looked after my husband!
