I was admitted to Chesterfield Royal on the 26th November 2013 (a while ago I know) at 37 weeks pregnant with severe pre eclampsia. I was induced and started off with a 'normal labour' I got to 3cm dialated and was advised to go for a walk so my mum took me around the hospital grounds where I doubled over with pain in the car park due to a grinding sensation, got to the toilet where I started bleeding, this being my 1st pregnancy I thought it was just my plug. My mum wheeld be be to labour ward (hitting every wall and door on the way) where doctors were called as I started haemorrhaging. Turns out I was havin a placenta abruption, my god what I'd of done to go through labour naturally! Doctors midwifes and anethesists all turned up as babies heart rate had dropped and got me sorted for n emergency c-sec. All staff that night were beyond amazing and literally saved mine and my little Alfie's lives. I was then in intensive care for about 24 hours where I was put on magnesium to help lower my blood pressure.. Midwifes helped with Alfie by having him for as long as I wanted to rest and the doctor stopped by and sat on the end of my bed and chatted about anything to reassure me and take my mind off the situation. It was like having friends around me everyone was so kind and clearly cared about their job and the care of their patients. Once moved back up to the ward for another 9days I was still well looked after and monitored, one midwife was absolutely lovely and easy to get along with but a couple of midwifes/nurses just didn't want to know, it was obvious it was just a job to them and they weren't willing to help even though I'd just had a major operation and thought I was going to die, aswell as being a young first time mum. Overall though I couldn't be happier, I owe my life to people. Thank you so so much words can't describe how thankful I am however I hope to not return anytime soon!
