"NHS hospital not doing urgent MRI to my mum!"

About: Victoria Hospital / Accident & Emergency

(as a relative),

My mum has been admitted twice this month and twice sent home in excruciating pain.

First they find blood in urine so done tests and antibiotics and when no operation was required they sent her home just because they couldn't find the problem. They made her wait 9 hours in waiting room to be discharged from hospital. Disgraceful! Then they say they were going to send letter home for MRI.

Then contacted my brother to say there was traces of calcare in her kidneys suspecting kidney stones!

3 days later my mum is back in the hospital.

More tests but still no MRI!

They give strong antibiotics for infection then they say there's no infection!

So they send her home again in excruciating pain still, and no antibiotics just paracetamol and some other pain killer.

We have to call our gp to take care of our mum. Tries more antibiotics guessing what the problem is..requesting MRI in May, then again in June and my mum is barely alive. Morphine from doctor is taking her mind and spirit away she's in so much pain she's not eating and no one is calling her for an MRI!

So we have to consider suing the hospital and the whole system for denying our mum the assistance and care she deserves. She has been let down just because nobody investigates further to see what is causing this pain.

It feels like this situation is killing my mum!

I will not accept that! I'm not going to stay quiet! Too much time has been wasted and it feels like there's not much time left!

Dear calimero

Thank you for your post which sounds very desparate, I was sorry to hear of the situation currently. I think you may already have contacted Patient Relations in the last 24 hours and if so I am confident that the issue has been discussed with your mother directly and that a scan date has been arranged for your mother. It would be helpful if you would confirm this to be the case.

Regards

Louise Ewing
