I volunteer in the group to offer support to Breastfeeding mums and we had noticed that attendance was getting low and wanted to try and improve this. The two volunteers worked with the Breastfeeding support worker and the CIW from the children's centre to come up with a 6 week plan and invited local Breastfeeding mums.

We had the idea to offer different information sessions alongside the general Breastfeeding support we offer on a weekly basis. We are coming to the end of the 6 weeks now and it has helped to improve attendance.

We have now come up with another 6 week plan and will send invites out to and new mums or ones who are known to be currently breastfeeding. As a volunteer it has been nice to have the support of staff from the children's centre in trying to raise our attendance as it makes you feel valued as a volunteer.

Dear Volunteer - thank you so much for taking the time to post your comments about being a Breastfeeding Supporter and the brilliant work you are doing to raise attendance at your Breastfeeding Buddies Group. We are delighted that you feel supported by the Centre staff and that the planning and delivery of a 6 week programme has obviously appealed to mums and increased attendance at the sessions.

Our volunteers are invaluable in supporting the delivery of our Children's Centre services and we really appreciate the time you are giving to help other mums realise the great benefits of giving breastfeeding a go!
