What I liked
My father was an in patient off and on for a few months with an infected foot ulcer. Generally the consultants were available to speak to and the ward was reasonably clean.
What could be improved
I was very concerned that my father was not receiving adequate treatment and consequently we decided to exercise his patient choice rights to be seen at a specialist diabetic foot clinic in a different PCT. As well as the concern about lack of treatment, the service seemed disjointed with practitioners only in the hospital part time and difficult to get hold off.
Anything else?
He has also been a patient on the Graham stroke ward and generally on that ward I found the nursing care to be consistently good and caring. Also I have found the after care through the Therapy at Home Team to be reliable professional and friendly. Also the ACU ward seemed pretty good too. The diabetic ward was very variable in terms of nurses and I had to battle with a few
