" Deaf patients deserve respect just like everyone else"

(as the patient),

when admitted to A and E hospitals, deaf patient was on the bed with one deaf and one hearing staff.

The senior nurse never had communicated with deaf patient at all. When deaf patient become very ill and started seizure fit. The senior nurse didnt approached the deaf patient to see if she is allright or reassure her or offer some drink.

When a hearing patient was ill I noticed that senior nurse approached him gave him lots of reassurance him with some drink. When the deaf patient ask for cold water the support worker give her warm drink. so i realised the treatment of deaf people is unfair compared to hearing people.

there is evidence that nurses didnt give deaf people equal treatment as they always think all deaf people had mental health problem. There is no evidence that ALL deaf peolpe got it, as i have been training to become a quailfeid nurse and i am first deaf nurse in the world.

i explained to nurses that i am mental health nurse as they looked down at me and thought i was a joke! its evidence that the nurses should learn how to treat deaf patients with equal rights and respect deaf people.
