"Excellent care from all staff"

About: Spire Leeds Hospital

I went to the Spire Hospital as an NHS patient for a colonoscopy. My care before my admission and during my investigation was absolutely excellent. I was seen in outpatients before my colonoscopy in order to talk through how to prepare for the procedure. This was done very thoroughly. The nurse identified a potential problem with the timing of my investigation and immediately helped me to reschedule it. Nothing was too much trouble. On arrival for the procedure I was greeted warmly by reception staff and taken to the ward. A nurse explained exactly what would happen and when. Again, they were friendly and welcoming. The room I was in was beautifully clean and comfortable. A member of the catering staff came to speak to me about food for after my investigation - again, a warm and friendly person. Once in theatre I met the consultant conducting my procedure who explained everything carefully to me. The theatre nurses really looked after me, checking with me that I was comfortable and OK with everything that was going to happen. Once back on the ward the nursing staff kept checking on me to make sure I felt OK and I had some delicious sandwiches! There was no hanging about waiting to be discharged - this was done efficiently with advice given about aftercare and what to do if there were any problems. I would absolutely recommend The Spire for such a procedure. A colonoscopy is not a very pleasant experience (before or during!) but the care which I received made it much more tolerable and a lot less stressful.
