"Excellent service, would like to thank the Doctor"

About: Bristol Royal Infirmary

To cut a long story short, I ended up at A&E, having woken that morning with a swelling on the side of my head and tenderness. I felt guilty about being there taking up precious resource but i was about to get on a flight to India and after consulting my colleagues and a friend in the medical profession, they pressed me to get it checked out and get a definitive yes, i was safe to fly. The service could not have been better. The receptionists, the nursing staff and especially the GP who I was referred to , were all very friendly. The most reassuring aspect of the whole experience is that the GP did not try to diagnose or second guess, she took the blood test, eliminated what she needed to and then informed me of the potential risk in the situation. I felt completely reassured by this evidenced based approach rather than a second guess and the discussion helped me make an informed decision. The NHS is under a great deal of strain and the staff must feel this, they didn't show it on this occasion. The NHS is an amazing resource and i would gladly pay more taxes to make this service available to everyone. Thank you to all the staff and especially the GP who helped me. Chocolates on their way once i am back from India. Thank you.

We are pleased to hear that you had such a good experience at the BRI Emergency Department - we have passed this on to the ED team who will be very pleased to receive this feedback.
