"Charles Dent Metabolic Unitis a jewel in the crown of this hospital"

About: National Hospital for Neurology & Neurosurgery - Queen Square

(as a carer),

We have been attending this excellent unit for many years. This wonderful hospital has prolonged the life of the patient, given the best care imaginable, and made the patient's quality of life immeasurably better. I hope that metabolic disease and the associated brain damage it can bring will be given the funding and status it so richly deserves. I hope there will be better recognition from the rest of the medical professions, more professorships at university and more course options for student doctors in metabolic medicine and neuropsychology. We always welcome students in our visits to the unit. I appeal to other patients to do the same, as this is the only way this specialism can become more widely known to doctors, and then the benefits of sustained lifelong regimes for metabolic management can prolong the life of patients in the UK and all over the world. Disease management is crucial to protect the quality of life of the patients too, who otherwise will experience mental and physical degeneration during their shorter lifespans. The Charles Dent Metabolic Unit is a jewel in the crown of this world-leading British hospital. We are very grateful. Well done to you all! .
