"Such lovely people who knew their jobs inside out"

About: Rotherham Hospital / Accident and emergency Rotherham Hospital / Gynaecology

(as the patient),

Around a month ago, I had a miscarriage at 7 weeks.

My experience was mixed. I dealt with an emergency doctor on the phone firstly at 3am, my midwife the next morning, my own GP who tried to arrange an emergency scan, but couldn't get one booked until the next day before turning up to a&e in desperation.

I felt the emergency doctor on the phone and initially a&e treated me as a first time pregnant lady over reacting, but I knew there was something wrong. I felt like the emergency doctor fobbed me off and a&e left me waiting having a miscarriage in the waiting room for 2. 5 hours.

I struggled to get someone to listen to me until I finally saw a doctor in a&e. Someone finally took my concerns seriously!

The a&e doctor and nurse were caring, kind, listened to me and actually did I something to help me. I was taken to ward B11 and the doctors and nurses were so nice, explained everything, did lots of tests and listened to me. They took my concerns seriously.

They couldn't do a scan until the following day, which confirmed the miscarriage. The nurses who undertook the scan and explained everything were also amazing.

Whilst it took 1. 5 days from my first contact with the emergency doctor before I had any answers, and even though it was a horrible thing to go through, the doctor and nurse in a&e, ward b11 and early pregnancy assessment unit were great. Such lovely people who were knew their jobs inside out.

However, if you would wish to do so, please do not hesitate to contact me on telephone 01709 427096, as I would be happy to discuss your experience with you personally and further investigate the issues which you have raised.
