"My cataract operation"

About: Borders General Hospital / Ophthalmology

(as the patient),

I went to a well-run, well-staffed department which looked after me at every turn. All members of staff had great interpersonal skills as well as sound technical skills. I am lower than the usual age for this sort of op but they responded to all patients as individuals and not as an age group.

Dear Starshine,

Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your good experience in relation to your cataract operation at the Borders General Hospital. I have shared your comments with all the staff involved so they are aware of your kind comments. I see you have identified some areas where we could improve the information given to our patients. We are keen to learn from all the feedback we receive and I would appreciate it if you could contact me to give me a little more detail so that we can look into this further.

Best wishes,

Susan Cowe, NHS Borders

Update posted by Starshine (the patient)

From the "what's good" list, I missed out the obvious (and reassuring) point that all staff are highly competent.
