I was an informal inpatient at The Sett and received treatment for an eating disorder for nearly 12 weeks. I was admitted at a very low weight and was very poorly. The staff and support of the whole team at the sett helped me to improve my physical health massively and help manage and cope with my thoughts. I also suffer from anxieties and depressive thoughts, and when I wasn't physically in crisis and I could manage my eating by following a meal plan.
me and my family felt that certain aspects of my treatment plan should be changed to help me manage and cope with my anxieties much better, but I was told that I had to follow a very specific and rigid care plan for eating disorders with no flexibility, which me and my family did not feel was necessary for me. As in informal patient, it felt that mine and my parents views were not taken into consideration when deciding my treatment. When I challenged the fact that my care plan was not individualised with my consultant, I was met with hostility inmy opinion and little explanation and reasons behind the decision.
Shortly after this, I was told I was being discharged from The Sett, without even had overnight leave. I expressed my wish to at least being able to quickly stagger my discharge by taking leave whilst still being a patient at the sett so I can still get support from them if I feel it was necessary which I was then told I was not allowed to despite my anxieties being taken into account.
I feel I was treated unfairly and I feel abandoned by the sett for questioning certain aspects of my treatment.
