I attended for check up endoscopy following a gastric bleed last month. I was seen to very quickly, and as my hearing is very poor my daughter was allowed to accompany me in to the pre-op area. This was a welcome relief as I was worried I wouldn't hear everything. The staff nurse was very reassuring, as were the Consultant and other staff members present. Following a short time in recovery, as I had sedation, I was offered a drink and biscuits which were very welcome. I was given my discharge info, and allowed to leave for home with my daughter after only 2 hours in the department from start to finish. After worrying all morning about the procedure, it was a relief to be treated so well with respect and understanding throughout my stay. My daughter was also treated very well, especially as family members are not normally allowed to accompany patients through this department. Thank You.
