Despite knowing I had breast cancer in early November 2014, I didn't get to see the consultant at QE2 for nearly 3 weeks. The consultant was kind and reassuring. There was no correspondence from then until PALS a the Lister told me the date of the operation towards the end of February but mention of the pre op. I only found out things through constant 'phone calls and help from Macmillan helpline on who to ask.to find it was the next day. I did receive the follow up appointment in March at QE2 involved a 2and a half hour wait because many of the packed waiting room had all been booked for the same consultant at the same time!.

It sounds like there are a few things we need to look in to here because at a time of worry and concern for you, it should not have had to be the case that you had to follow things up like this just to get fairly basic information about what was happening and when. This is not typical of our service and it sounds like something went wrong with the support that you received that needs to be addressed. If you are happy to do so - we would like you to contact us at generalenquiries.enh-tr@nhs.net so we can get someone to contact you to hear what happened and investigate. At the very least, you deserve an apology where things went wrong and our service fell below the high standards we expect of ourselves.
