I've just been discharged from Fairhaven Young People's Unit. I found the service to be beneficial however, as it is next door to the CAMH's (Child and adolescent mental health services) I think it would be more worthwhile for the CAMH's team to work within that unit.
I have been seeing a psychiatrist and therapist from warrington CAMH's for six months and neither of them came to see me in the 3 weeks I was admitted. I found this particularly difficult as I had already developed a trusting relationship with them and had to talk to more therapists and psychiatrists.
As the unit has only been open a few weeks it is not properly set up with all new therapists/psychiatrists/psychologist's etc, and therefore I did not recieve the best possible treatment to develop my road to recovery, I was only seen by nurses and a psychiatrist.
Although the staff are friendly it would've been better if my CAMH's team would've worked with me in that difficult time, and if the unit had've been set up properly.
I also had an overnight stay in Warrington Paediatric ward and I felt that the staff I saw, the cleanliness of the parts of the ward I stayed on and the doctor I saw in the morning were absolutely disgraceful. I realise that these are general staff but think that they should also have some training in mental health difficulties in order for them to understand and treat patients like myself with the correct support and care that is needed.
