Today I was up at dermatology in lauriston, Edinburgh. I am suffering from Vascultis, which is painful, and results in sores that need bandaging, my bandages had to be removed so the specialist could check on them, then reapplied.
Today my legs were dressed by a nurse called Jania and a staff nurse, whose name I don't know. These nurses were fantastic, they really looked after me. They washed down my legs and feet, given that they have been in bandages they needed it. They were really gentle, friendly and professional. Given the pain I am in, gentle is good.
They got the existing bandages off without taking lumps of skin with them, they managed to get steroid cream, then moisturizing paraffin ointment on with barely a yelp from me, and then bandaged me up. Jania even managed to get blood first time, a rarity for me.
Its rare to meet bad nurses in NHS, but these two ladies really made today much easier than I expected as I was dreading it a bit, especially when compared to the little ham-fisted treatment at local surgery.
